What is the Peach in the Bag?
It is a late hard-pulp peach that is cultivated in the heart of Sicily in Leonforte. In June, when the peaches are the size of an almond, they are bagged one by one directly on the tree, thus avoiding the massive use of insecticides. Moreover, thanks to the paper bags we can leave the peaches on the tree until they are fully ripe and perfectly sweet, thus offering our customers the flavour of long ago.
How do we make Peach Extra Jam?
The peaches grow in the farm orchards and are processed in the farm’s processing laboratory just after being gathered. To make Samperi Organic Peach Extra Jam, we use only peaches (66%), cane sugar and lemon juice, without adding pectin or other gelling agents.
Why is it a Slow Food Presidium?
Samperi is involved in the Slow Food Presidia project that protects traditional products and traditional processing methods at risk of extinction.
